ELLSWORTH – Carroll N. Jordan, 80, died July 4, 2009, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1929, in Ellsworth, the son of Harvard G. and Elsie (Hamilton) Jordan. Carroll served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was self-educated in the area where his family settled more than 200 years ago and he continued to live on the family farm. He started his career with Ralston Purina and founded the Ellsworth Seed & Feed store 60 years ago. He was an honest and respected businessman and a very hard worker. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Alice Maddocks Jordan of Ellsworth; a daughter, Linda Jordan; six sons, Stephen Jordan and wife, Sheryl, Gary Jordan, Harvard Jordan and wife, Linelle, John Jordan, Carroll Jordan, JR and wife, Amy, all of Ellsworth, and Ralph Jordan and companion, Robert Bowden, of Brooklin; grandchildren, Gary, Shari, Christopher, Sarah, Rebecca, Catherine, Chantel and Jacob; a brother, Robert C. Jordan of Ellsworth; many nieces and nephews. He’ll be sadly missed by Joseph and Joanne Young of Ellsworth and Grette Bishop of Florida. He was predeceased by a sister, Eunice Heath; and brothers, Linwood and Edgar Jordan. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at United Baptist Church, 38 Pine St., Ellsworth.
