BRADLEY – Carl “Bud” E. Nevells, 85, died peacefully Monday, July 6, 2009, surrounded by his loving wife, Thelma; his sons, daughter, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, at Brewer Rehab and Living Center. He was born June 24, 1924, in Sedgwick, the son of Carl and Louise (Carter) Nevells. He attended schools in Sedgwick. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, 1941-1945, during World War II, and participated in action against the enemy in the capture and occupation of Palau Canal, Guadalcanal and New Britain. Bud belonged to Post No. 84 American Legion, Orono and was a life member of VFW Post No. 3381, Old Town. He was a member of 1st Marine Division Association and DAV of Bangor. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma; two sons, Carl Nevells III and wife, Joanne, and Fred Nevells and wife, Anne; daughter, Janet Horock and husband, John; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Thibodeau and husband, George; uncle, Pete Carter and wife, Juanita; and a cousin, Carroll Nevells and his wife. Carl was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one great-granddaughter. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley. Immediately after the services at the cemetery, all are invited to St. Ann’s Parish hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marine Corps League of Bangor, attention Dave Johnson, P.O. Box 1323, Bangor, ME 04401.
