ST. AGATHA – Romeo Chasse, 93, went to meet the Lord July 6, 2009, with his family at his side at Forest Hill, Fort Kent. He was born Jan. 29, 1916, in St. Agatha, the son of Denis and Marie (Hebert) Chasse. Romeo attended St. Agatha schools. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in England and France. Romeo married Bridget Kiely in Northhampton, England, in 1944. Romeo was a potato farmer and in his retirement years, an avid gardener. The 1995 fall issue of Yankee Magazine featured Romeo’s love of gardening, sense of humor and love of life. Romeo served on SAD 33 Board of Director’s for many years and was an active member of American Legion Cyr Plourde Post No. 145. Romeo is survived by five children, Cliff and his wife, Fran, of Lakeland, Fla., Frank and his wife, Claudette, of Plainville, Conn., Richard and his wife, Doris, of Southington, Conn., Joan Corbitt and her husband, John, of South Charleston, Ohio, and Sandra San Antonio and her husband, Al, of St. Agatha; eight grandchildren, Scott and Cathy, Mike and Becky, Sean and Debbie Corbitt, all of Ohio, Kim Chasse Andrusia and Adam, Jamie and Erin Chasse, all of Connecticut, Tony San Antonio of Seattle and Mike San Antonio of St. Agatha; five great-grandchildren, all of Ohio; five sisters, Regina Poulin, Edwina Maillet, Marie May Ouellette and her husband, Normand, Alma Mathieu and her husband, Paul, and Artheline Vyr, all of Lewiston sister-in-law, Alma Chasse of St. Agatha; many nieces and nephews. He is survived by many Kiely family members in Ireland and England. Romeo was predeceased by his parents; his wife; one young daughter, Lorraine; his brothers, Benoit, Paul Emile and Alyre; and his sister, Corine Asselin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, at St. Agatha Catholic Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, and 8:30 a.m. until the time of departure for the funeral Friday morning at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. Gifts may be made in Romeo’s memory to Pioneer Educational Foundation or Forest Hill Activity Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
