BANGOR – Virginia J. Sjogren, 87, wife of the late Andrew Sjogren, died July 10, 2009, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Winterport, the daughter of Edward D. and Nellie L. (Marden) Cochran. Virginia was longtime resident of Florida and Brooks, and had been living in Bangor for several years. She was a member of Kenduskeag Union Church and was a member of Bangor Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are two children, Richard C. Sjogren and his wife, Kathy, of Palmyra and Carl A. Sjogren and his wife, Cathy, of Ashland; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Whitaker of Bangor; one brother, Edward Cochran of Framingham, Mass.; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 2002; and by a sister, Jeanette Cocopardo. A service in honor of Virginia’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Kenduskeag Union Church, Kenduskeag, with Pastor Ruth Guerette, presiding.
