LINCOLN – Leona V. Murchison, 94, wife of the late Howard Murchison, passed away July 16, 2009, at a Lincoln health care facility She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Woodville, the daughter of William and Annie (Chesley) Ireland. Family was her whole life. She enjoyed cooking for the church and everyone else. She enjoyed working with young people at Sunday school and nursery. She is survived by seven children, Clyde Maynard Shute and Cecile of Howland, Donna Daigle and Dwinal of Lincoln, Shirley Daigle of New Hampshire, Reginald Murchison and Judy of Lincoln, Paulette Porter and Sam of Lowell, Dwight Murchison and Clarice, and Jolene Stockley and Kent, all of Lincoln; a daughter-in-law, Judy Murchison of Chester; three sisters, Helen Murchison of Lincoln, Elsie Crabtree and Charlotte Marsh, both of Kentucky; a brother, Robert Ireland of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three children, James Ireland, Clayton Murchison and Lawrence Murchison; seven brothers and a sister. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating.
