KENNEBUNK – Phyllis Elizabeth Bosworth arrived home July 15, 2009, after almost an 87-year journey through life. She said good-bye to her family 1:47 a.m. at Huntington Commons, Kennebunk. She shook off the bonds of this world and joyfully entered peace and rest. Phyllis started her journey Sept. 8, 1922, in Melrose, Mass. John Alfred and Florence Raines Mitchell watched as she entered this world with a smile that would last all her life. She met and married Weldon Shepard Bosworth, the son of Fredrick and Beatrice Bosworth, July 4, 1941. Throughout the next several years, Phyllis and Weldon were joined by their children, Weldon Jr., Richard, Janet and Joan; then nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Along with Weldon, her family was her greatest source of love and joy. In August 1981, Weldon predeceased Phyllis, but he provided the means for her to continue an abundant and fruitful life on her own. After a little period of adjustment, she spent many months traveling throughout the world with her best friend, Bette Cushman. Phyllis centered her activities in Lynnfield, Mass., devoting herself to the church and community, working in real estate and volunteering at Lynn Union Hospital. However close to her heart were the trips to Maine for cross country skiing, lobster, hot dogs and fireworks. The family will have a service of remembrance 3 p.m. July 24 at Centre Congregational Church, Lynnfield, Mass. All are welcome to join the celebration. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Deaf Hard of Hearing Outreach Program, care of Merrill Bank, attention Eunice McAsee, 191 River Road, Orrington, ME 04474. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. www.bibberfuneral.com
