CARIBOU – Lola Jackson, 84, passed away quietly Thursday, July 23, 2009, surrounded by her family at Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 4, 1924, in St. Francis, the daughter of George and Emma (McPherson) Jones. She married Preston E. Jackson, Nov. 29, 1945. They lived in Allagash with their four children until they moved to Caribou in the 1950s. She worked her whole life taking care of her family and herself. Her family was the most important thing in her life. During World War II she worked as a welder on the Liberty Ships in Portland. She worked many years and retired from McCain Foods. She enjoyed camping, doing puzzles, watching the Red Sox, and spending time with the ladies at Home Farm Apartments. She was predeceased by her husband, May 9, 1966. She is survived by her children, Hampton Jackson of Caribou, Carlton Jackson and his wife, Diane, of Caribou, Paul Ouellette and his wife, Lynn, of Presque Isle, and Betty Wilcox and her husband, Michael, of Woodland; 11 grandchildren, Hampton R. Jackson and his wife, Lynn, Jennifer Thompson and her husband, Darin, Craig Jackson, Trina Couture and her husband, Michael, Julie Webster and her husband, Carl, Carlton Jackson Jr., Scott Jackson, Melissa McCormick, Bryan and Shannon Ouellette, and Clint Adler; 14 great-grandchildren, Preston, Nicholas, Hunter and Maddison Jackson, Michael Girouard, Hillary, Zachary and Marissa Jackson, Kelsey and Emma Couture, Sarah and Grace Webster, Christian Mann and Raegen McCormick; three sisters, Betty Henderson of Caribou, Georgia McIver of Littleton and Letha Hamlin of Oakland, Md.; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday, July 25, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, with the Rev. David Goupille officiating, where friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Allagash.
