HARRINGTON – Norma May Call, 82, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away July 29, 2009, at a Milbridge health care facility. She was born June 18, 1927, the daughter of Fredrick and Millie Elliot. Norma will be remembered for being the fastest clam shucker and for her love of dolphins. She loved to be surrounded by her kids and grandkids. Norma was most proud of her 13 children and numerous grandchildren, and her happiest moments were family get-togethers. Although Norma had been stricken with Alzheimer’s disease, she never forgot she had 13 kids. Norma will be remembered by many for her Christmas pumpkin bread, her famous spaghetti sauce and Saturday night baked beans, brown bread and cranberry duff. Norma enjoyed knitting and every year each grandchild received a hat and mittens and all the hunters received trigger finger mittens and her famous high socks.Surviving are 11 children, Fred and wife, Kathleen, Patsy Petzold and husband, Kurt, Ellis and wife, Linda, Robert and Jen, Leonard and wife, Joan, Vicky Austin and husband, Whitney, George and wife, Karen, Penny Beaucher and husband, Peter, Ricky and wife, Kenwyn, Millie Wood and husband, Kevin, and Marie Vandegrift and husband, Sidney; two sisters, Beryl Reynolds and husband, Alfred, and Joan Smith; 36 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; special son-in-law, Verlan; several nieces and nephews; plus her beloved pug, Buddy Piglet. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, George Call; two children, Ronnie Call and Caroline Lenfesty; three sisters, Betty Slicer, Marylou Marden and Jenny Geouon; and granddaughter, Marita. Norma had an extended family at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility whom she loved. Her family expresses many thanks to all the staff. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4. A reception will be after at the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars, Harrington. The family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Narraguagus Bay Healthcare activity fund.
