TOPSHAM – John K. “Jack” Coppens, 76, died Aug. 13, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice, Scarborough. He was born July 18, 1933, to John and Lynda (King) Coppens in Edmundston, New Brunswick. Jack was a member of the Paper Industry Management Association, PIMA. He was an avid golfer and traveler. Jack worked for the paper industry as a technical sales representative. He held positions at H. Waterbury & Sons, Porritts & Spencer and Lindsay Wire Co. Upon his retirement he spent a number of years at his camp on Long Lake in Madawaska, where he grew up. He was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine Sirois, MaryJane Tyldsley, Virginia Bruss, Kathleen Plourde and Frances Buksyk; and granddaughter, Kimberly Coppens. Jack is survived by wife of 54 years, Rachel M. Coppens; sons, Kevin Coppens of Topsham and David Coppens of Holmen, Wis.; daughter, Anne (Coppens) Tripp of Saco; three granddaughters, three grandsons; and sisters, Jean Picard and Joan Sleight. No visitation hours will be held. There will be a Mass of Christian burial 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick, with a brief reception after at the church. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 417 Route One, Falmouth.
