BANGOR – Pauline May Gallant, 71, died peacefully Aug. 17, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends at a Bangor hospital. Pauline was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Portland, the daughter of Joseph and Monica Dwyer. Pauline loved her independence, having her own apartment and taking such great care of her flowers. She loved visiting her favorite local establishments. She also loved celebrating her birthday with a huge party each year. Pauline was very proud of her accomplishments including her ability to maintain her job at NOE for more than 15 years. Pauline is survived by her sister, Rita (Gallant) Murch and brother-in-law, Clifford Murch, of West Baldwin; sister, Shirly Guptil of Portland; and Pauline’s many nieces and nephews. Pauline is also survived by her extended families at both OHI and NOE; special friends, Bonnie, Christine, Pat and Tobie; as well as her many “community angels.” Pauline was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Richard Taliento and Ronald Avanzato; and sister, Donna Ciprano. A funeral to celebrate Pauline’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the family lot at West Baldwin.
