CHARLTON, Mass. – Joyce Elaine Whitaker, 48, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at her home, after a brief illness. She was born Jan. 8, 1961, in Brockton, Mass. She is survived by her mother, Claire (Hambly) Black of Plymouth; her father, Albert P. Whitaker Jr. and his wife, Norma, of Plant City, Fla.; four sisters, Dale Robbins of Warsaw, Ind., Beth Johnson of Durham, N.H., Karen Schofield of Middleboro, Mass., and Diane Hooper of Wolfeboro, N.H.; two brothers, Glenn Whitaker of Middleboro, Mass., and Keith Whitaker of Plymouth; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and many dear friends. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, Mass., with the Rev. Stephen Nordbye, of Charlton Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be after at South Killingly Cemetery, Danielson, Conn. A calling hour will be held 10-11 a.m. prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
