SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Beryl Holland Rossi Cummings, 80, passed away Sept. 9, 2009, due to a long illness at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility, Milbridge. Beryl was born Sept. 8, 1929, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Corthell) Holland. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, youth groups and being a certified nurse’s aide for 13 years. She owned and operated Beryl’s Beauty Boot Hair Salon. She was involved in clown school, the local Grange, Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Rebekahs Club and proud member of Foster Grandparent Program at Pemitic Elementary School. Her favorite thing to do was to sing and dance at karaoke with Sis and her best friend, Betty Lou Garnett. We will all love and miss you with all of our hearts and souls. She was predeceased by her husband, Shirley Cummings; two sisters and their husbands, Lillian and Horace Crowley, and Muriel and John Hall; a nephew, Bruce Hall; and a brother, Louis Rossi. She is survived by a son, Nolan Rossi Jr. and his wife, Ellen and their two children, Charles Rossi and wife, Jan, and Jolette West and husband, Jason, all of Milbridge; a daughter, Valerie and husband, James N. Batson Sr. and their son, James N. Batson Jr. and fiancee, Charlotte Alley, all of Addison; great-grandchildren, Robbie, John, Alicia, Angel, Sarah, Gabrielle, Conner, Harrison, Maggie, Stephanie, Dayna, Kayla, Katie and Chad; many nieces, nephews and great-stepgrandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her karaoke sister, Betty Lou Garnett; dear friends, Pegg Grant, Beverly Roach, Roberta Sawyer, Deli McLain, Donna Sawyer, Sandra Murphy and Mia, Ramona West, Joanne and Jim Smith, Misty, Steven, Emily, Pat and Carol, and Corey Crowey; her friends at Narraguagus Bay; all staff and children at Pemitic Elementary School, Southwest Harbor, Jackie, Brandi, Theresa Sowers, Julie, Will, Ben, David, Areona; and all of her Red Hat sisters. A service of remembrance will be celebrated noon Sunday, Sept. 13, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, with Pastor Jackie Emerson officiating. Burial will be afterward at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge. In keeping with Beryl’s request, she declined floral arrangements.
