VAN BUREN – Levite G. Duplessis Jr. died unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. He was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Keegan, son of Levite and Nora (Michaud) Duplessis Sr. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and upon his return home, he was employed by Michaud’s Auto Body, Van Buren. In the early 1960s, he started a company with his father and brother known as Simplex Manufacturing Co. He was successful in fabricating and manufacturing tennis rackets, skis and later bicycles. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and spending time on the porch talking with people. In his younger days, he loved snowmobiling and was known to be the clown of the party. He could put a smile on anyone’s face. June also was involved with the Knights of Columbus for more than 25 years, something he was proud of and truly enjoyed. He served many different positions and received numerous awards for all his years of dedication. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1635 and Fourth Degree Assembly 0349, Van Buren. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 49, Van Buren. June is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy (Lajoie) Duplessis of Van Buren; one son, Michael Duplessis of Provincetown, Mass.; two daughters, Diane Sizemore and her husband, Rick, of Weare, N.H., and Jennifer Pinkham and her husband, Michael, of Van Buren; and two brothers, Leo James and Delano Duplessis, both of Van Buren. The pride and joy of his life were his four grandchildren, Joshua, Levi and Eljiah Pinkham and Shelby Sizemore. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were special to him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Aline (Parent) Duplessis in 1971. At June’s request, he will be cremated. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
