Ten vehicle burglaries were reported to Bangor police over the weekend, and all of the victims had left their cars unlocked, Sgt. Chip Hodges said Monday.
“I’m sure they’re just checking doors and taking what they can take,” he said.
In the weekend break-ins, victims reported missing DVDs, binoculars, a laptop, a BlackBerry, other electronics, cash and change.
“There is no way to determine” whether the vehicle burglaries are related, Hodges said. Three of the break-ins reported Monday were on the west side of the city, he noted.
There has been a string of recent vehicle break-ins, not only in Bangor, but also in Brewer, Veazie and other communities, all involving unlocked vehicles. Residents should lock their cars, Hodges advised. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
