FRANKLIN – Ronald “Ronnie” P. Smith, 72, died Sept. 15, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Franklin, the son of Merle A. and Olive (DeBeck) Smith. Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Franklin. He was an avid outdoorsman and Red Sox fan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Smith; one son, Danial Smith of Franklin; and one daughter, Mary Smith of Bangor; five brothers and sisters, Eleanor DiBella and her husband, Angelo, Jackie Leavitt and her husband, Sharland, Douglas Smith and his wife, Joan, Beverly Allen, and Sandra Ingalls. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a special great-nephew, Sam Smith of Franklin. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. A graveside service will be celebrated 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin.
