GRAND LAKE STREAM – Avon W. Staples, 81, passed away Sept. 21, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Lee, the son of Wallace and Amy (Gifford) Staples. Avon was active in Grand Lake Stream Snowmobile Club and Grand Lake Stream Historical Society. He loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Brown) Staples; his children, Terry and Juanita, Dana and Julia, Robbi and Jane, Jay and Jim, Jon and Diane, Bernie and Deb, and Charles and Debbie; two brothers, Bernard Staples and Gloria, and Roger Staples and Joyce; 15 special grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many friends, including special friend, Ken Sprague; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Cobb Staples; and a sister, Norma. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Plourde officiating.
