LINCOLN – The Rev. Dr. Clark A. Osborn, 70, passed away Sept. 25, 2009, at his home as was his wish, after an extended illness. He was born March 1, 1939, in Lincoln, to Clark A. Osborn Sr. and his wife, Norma (Curtis) Osborn Greenleaf. He attended Lincoln schools, graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1957, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in education at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. His graduate work was done at USM, Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., and his Doctor of Divinity was earned through New Wine Ministries Bible School. Clark spent 20 years in education as an elementary junior high teacher, with many of those years as principal. After those years, he spent 22 years as a minister in the United Methodist Church, serving churches in Howland, Alton, Corinth, North Brooksville, South Brooksville and Lincoln. During his lifetime, he had 45 years of service with fire departments and ambulance squads, serving in all positions except chief. Clark’s great love for music found him singing in Hilltop Carolers, many choirs, Houlton Community Chorus and Second Corinthian Gospel Group, playing his keyboard at area nursing homes and serving as a church organist. He was also involved with Lincoln Community Band for a time. He belonged to various organizations including Jaycees, Lions and Rotary, all of which he served as president; Scout Master in Guilford; Gideons in Houlton; planning, cemetery and library committees in Corinth; Maine Elementary Principals Association with 11 years as treasurer; and recently the 470 Train Club. He had also served on the board of directors at Penobscot Valley Hospital and Greater Lincoln Christian Academy. Clark greatly enjoyed family, football, golf, camping, swimming and trains. Clark is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Beverly; children, Thomas and his wife, Nancy, Lorena Dexter and her husband, Tim, and Lisa Sholler and her husband, Reggie; seven grandchildren, Mark and wife, Amanda, Jessica and husband, Daren, Matthew and friend, Sara, Joshua, Jakob, Trent and Troy; two great-grandchildren, Ciyera and Logan; and a brother, Gary and his wife, Sheila. He was predeceased by his parents; and his eldest child, Richard. Friends may call 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Lincoln United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bruce Young officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
