BRIDGTON – Grace E. Garron, 95, who lived a long and fulfilling life as a registered nurse, camper, hiker, swimmer, craftsperson and mother of seven, died Sept. 26, 2009, at Bridgton Health Care Center. A Bridgton resident since 1996, Grace was born March 17, 1914, in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Anna Julia Coffin (Flynn) and Richard Flynn. She began her nursing career at Massachusetts General Hospital, first as a student and upon graduation as a registered nurse, worked for 10 years at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Phillips House. She was a night registered nurse for 17 years at Castine Community Hospital. In retirement she moved to Laconia, N.H., and then to Bridgton. Idle moments in retirement were few in both Laconia, N.H., and Bridgton, with church activities, grandchildren, camping trips, arts and crafts, reading, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Grace is survived by daughter, Anne Mains of Bridgton; sons, Barry Garron of Temecula, Calif., and Gordon Garron of Goffstown, N.H.; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by sons, Ernie, Roger, Steve and Glenn Garron; and her husband, Ernest H. Garron. A gravesite service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Castine Cemetery.
