LYNN, Mass. – Mr. Ralph P. White, 83, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at Beverly Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband and friend of Phyllis L. (Sudak) White, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage. Born in Orono Ralph was son of the late Peter and Isabelle (Therriault) White. He attended elementary school in Orono and was a graduate of Orono High School, Class of 1944. He previously lived in Peabody, Mass., and Danvers, Mass., before settling in Lynn, Mass., many years ago. He was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as a coxswain in the Asiatic Pacific theater. Mr. White was employed by Bangor Hydroelectric Co., as an electrician. In 1969 he moved to Lynn, Mass., and later became associated with the former Lynn Hospital as an electrician, a position he held for 17 years, until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of West Congregational Church, Peabody, Mass., where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed travelling, reading books on history, geography and all phases of sports. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his three brothers, Raymond White of Old Town, Ronald White of Bradley and Roger White of Orono; one sister, Marion Zipporia of Groton, Conn.; as well as four nieces, one nephew and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was brother of the late Robert White and Carol Thomson. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Ralph’s funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday at West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson St., Peabody, Mass. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, Mass.
