EAST MILLINOCKET – June N. (Nesbitt) Baker passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 4, 2009, surrounded by her family after a long and lingering illness, at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born Sept. 24, 1927, in East Millinocket, daughter of the late Percy O. Nisbett and Lottie (Vance) Nisbett. June graduated from Schenck High School, Class of 1945. She was married to Paul J. Baker at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, April Fools Day in 1951, which annually was the butt of some humor. They had been married for 58 years. June was a homemaker although she worked a number of years in the 1970s. She enjoyed family get-togethers and very much enjoyed dancing, at which she was very good. She thoroughly enjoyed her two grandchildren and her one great-grandchild, and was gifted with a special rapport with young children. After Paul’s retirement they enjoyed a Caribbean cruise, a trip to Hawaii and a number of years going to Myrtle Beach, N.C., in the spring. June is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons and one daughter, Bob and his wife, Cathie (Peabody) Baker, Judy Boise and her son, Ian Boise, and Jeffrey Baker and his daughter, Jesse Baker. She loved her grandchildren very much and also her only great-grandchild, Demitria Boise, daughter of Ian Boise and Caty Reeder. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Wesley Nisbett; five sisters, Leah Barlett, Etta Darling, Laura Nesbitt, Marjorie McCluskey and Elaine Nason. June was the last of the Nisbett siblings. Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Christ Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, led by Deacon Dan Watson.
