NASHUA, N.H. – Inge A. Chittenden, formerly of Winter Harbor, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, 2009, at Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare, after a brief illness. Mrs. Chittenden was born June 17, 1930, in Bremer-haven, Germany, a daughter of the late Willie and Gretchen Schaller. She was the wife of the late Edward L. Chittenden, who died Nov. 8, 1991. They shared 35 years of marriage. Mrs. Chittenden worked for the Navy Exchange System, Winter Harbor, for many years. She is remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed reading and bowling. She was a good cook. At one time, she was a member of Ruby Chapter of the Eastern Star, Winter Harbor. Mrs. Chittenden was very proud to become a U.S. citizen, June 12, 1960. In addition to her late husband and parents, she was also predeceased by two brothers and an infant son, many years ago. Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Dorit Beard and Kevin Cornwell of Carrollton, Va., Babby and Jim Gaudette of Nashua, N.H., and Tanya and Joe Schaller of Kenduskeag; her grandchildren, Robert A. Beard, serving with the U.S. Navy in San Diego and Kenneth Schaller of Pennsylvania; her “granddog,” Taylor; her sister, Christa Schaller of Germany; several nieces and nephews including Diana Kundsorru of Germany. A memorial funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Davis Funeral Home, One Lock St., Nashua, N.H. Interment prayers and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Maine.
