BUCKSPORT – Robert F. DiCesare, 66, passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2009, with his family by his side at home. He fought a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was born May 12, 1943, in Connecticut, to Gino and Maria DiCesare. Robert joined the Navy after high school, serving his country for six years. He relocated to Maine, where he married Colleen Morrill and there they raised their three girls. Later in life, marrying Loris, his family continued to grow. He enjoyed motorcycles, tinkering, woodworking, photography, reading non-fiction, cooking and spoiling his loyal companion, Cesare. He had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Loris; three daughters, Holly and Jason Staples of Bucksport, Bobbi and Bob Contois of Orrington and Wendy and Kenny Stone of Orrington; two sons from his blended family, Jeff and Joanne Giroux of Penobscot and Wayne and Michele of Hudson; and another son he picked up along the way, John and Jen Richards of Orrington. His humor will be missed by his grandchildren, Andrew, Tylor, Josh, Trevor, Jenna, Celeste, Justin, Zackary, Austin and Jayden. His personality will be missed by his three surviving siblings, Ray DiCesare and Jo Gustavsen of Connecticut, Dolores and Ernie LeFebvre of Connecticut and Anna and Dominic Tagariello of Vermont. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins, and some very special friends he made along the way. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Arnold, Gino and Arthur DiCesare, and Lillian Jacobs. The family sends a special thanks to everyone who helped care for him in his time of need. A lunch gathering for friends and family to celebrate his life, and share to our fondest memories of him will be held noon-4 p.m. Nov. 8 at Arey Community Center, 558 River Road, Bucksport. Donations will be accepted in his memory and given to the local libraries that he so enjoyed using.
