HARRINGTON – Marie E. Murphy, 65, died peacefully Oct. 24, 2009, with her family at her side, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1944, daughter of the late Eugene and Helen (McHatton) Smith. Marie had recently been a resident of Narraguagus Bay Health Care, Milbridge. She worked for Irving Oil for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Bonny Haycock of Harrington, and Michelle and her husband, Carson Bagley, of Franklin; two sons, Eric and his wife, Debbie Murphy, of East Machias, and Larry Murphy of Jonesport; eight grandchildren, Chris Worcester and his partner, Brianna Santerre, of Cherryfield, Scott Worcester and his partner, Jessica Higgins, of Harrington, Corey Worcester and his wife, Ashley, of Harrington, Ryan, Brandon and Jackson Murphy of Machias, and Hayley and Cassidy Murphy of East Machias; and two loving, little great-grandchildren, Alex and Ava Worcester. She is also survived by a sister, Rebecca Atwater of Steuben; two brothers, Arlo and his wife, Bonnie Smith, of Perry, and Dean and Gloria Smith of Hermon; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, along with two lifelong friends, Lillian Shaw and Bonnie Day. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Leon Smith; and a nephew, Toby Smith. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Main Street, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington.
