HAMPDEN and WINTERPORT – Joseph P. Gallant Jr., 61, husband of Barbara L. Gallant, passed away Oct. 26, 2009, in Bangor. He was born May 3, 1948, in Bangor, son of the late Joseph P. Gallant Sr. and Mary (Soper) Gallant. Joseph grew up in Bucksport and was a graduate of Bucksport High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Husson College in 1971. After graduation, he began his automotive career with Northeast Chrysler Plymouth, where he worked for many years until becoming a part owner of Beacon Cadillac Olds. He was a well-respected businessman who always looked out for his customers and employees. He lived and worked with passion, intensity, determination and generosity. He enjoyed fishing, golf and cooking, but the focus of his life was always on his family. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Barbara (Crossman) Gallant of Winterport; his sons, Joseph “Joey” P. Gallant III and his wife, Jessie, of Buxton, and Adam J. Gallant of Brewer; brother, Kenneth M. Gallant and his wife, Kristina, of Minnesota; sister, Jennifer Cloukey and her husband, Peter, of California; beloved granddaughter, Isabella; nieces and nephews; his favorite mother-in-law, Jean Truitt; and his special fishing buddy, “Bud” Truitt. A service of remembrance will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating.
