BREWER – Nathalie B. Franks, 90, wife of the late Arthur Franks, passed away peacefully Oct. 26, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Brewer, daughter of James and Euphemia T. (Law) Burnett. Nathalie and Arthur married shortly after the conclusion of World War II, settling in Brewer to raise their family. She spent most of her career employed as a secretary for Brewer School Department. Nat was a member of First Congregational Church of Brewer, attending many a service with her family. Upon retiring, Nat and Arthur traveled to Florida annually with friends for the winter, after spending the holidays with their family. Nat enjoyed many a card game with family and friends and was always ready for a road trip, especially if it involved shopping. One of her most memorable trips took place in 1996 when Nat was able to visit the homeland of her parents, Scotland, and meet some family members for the first time. Nat was very proud of her Scottish heritage and brought back many memorabilia to share with family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she will be remembered as a very loving, generous wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are two children, Richard Franks and his wife, Suzan, of Hernando, Fla., and Terras Corbett of Bangor; five grandchildren, Jennifer Whitmore and her husband, Philip, of Orange, Mass., Daniel Corbett of Bangor, Rob Smith of Hudson, N.H., Jaime Franks of Nashua, N.H., and Justin Franks of Orlando, Fla.; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was predeceased by three brothers, Alex Burnett, James Burnett and John Burnett; and three sisters, Marion Kelley, Thora Powers and Irene Elliott. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Friends are welcome to call 1 p.m. until the time of service Friday. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services at Brookings-Smith Family Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer.
