GRAND ISLE – Gladys Gendreau, 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born March 16, 1928, in St. David, the daughter of Paul and Gertie (Gendreau) Gendreau. Gladys was a communicant of St. Gerard Church, as well as a lifetime member of Ladies of St. Anne. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Rita Chasse and her husband, Gerald, of Grand Isle; two sons, Don Gendreau and his wife, Karen, of Van Buren and Mark Gendreau and his wife, Paula, of Madawaska; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Bechard of Grand Isle and Rolande MacWhinnie and her husband, Rodney, of Madawaska; five brothers, Lucien Gendreau, Yvon Gendreau and his wife, Simone, both of Connecticut, Eldon Gendreau, Eugene Gendreau and Carl Gendreau and his wife, Norma, all of Madawaska; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband, Conrad, in 2001; one son, Roger Gendreau and his wife, Louiselle; and by her daughter, Betty Sirois and her husband, Armand. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at St. Gerard Church, Grand Isle. Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery.
