ISLAND FALLS – Dorothy Porter Armstrong went to be with her Lord Oct. 30, 2009. She was born Aug. 5, 1914, in Littleton, the daughter of Charles Beardsley and Mae Taylor Porter. Dot was united in marriage with Earl W. Armstrong, April 17, 1938, in Monticello. She is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Penny (Bradbury) Armstrong, of Cape Elizabeth; daughter, Norma and her husband, Dwight Faulkner, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Mary Frances Rosa of Greensboro, N.C., John Kmetz of Watertown, Conn., and Kathryn Kmetz of Portsmouth, N.H.; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mae Porter; her husband, Earl; four brothers, Percy, Dr. Willis “Bill,” Charles “Gus” and Cecil Porter; nephew, Roger Porter; and son-in-law, Dr. John T. Kmetz. The interment will be at Island Falls Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Baptist Church, Island Falls; Littleton Baptist Church or Military Street Baptist Church, Houlton.
