CARIBOU – Hazel May Olson, 89, wife of the late Sheppard Olson, went home to be with her Lord Nov. 3, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Masardis, the daughter of the late C. Columbus and Agnes Page. She was a 1938 graduate of Mapleton High School and a 1941 graduate of Aroostook State Normal School. She taught school in Jemptland; New Sweden; Connor; Madawaska Road School, Caribou; and Loring Air Force Base. At Loring, she was a fourth grade teacher for nine years and then the librarian at both schools for 18 years, all total working was 32 years, until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Caribou United Baptist Church, and loved attending Dorcas Mission Circle and Golden Years Seniors Group. She was also on the prayer line for the church for many years. In her later years, she attended High Street Baptist Church, Limestone, with her son and daughter-in-law. She is survived by two sons, Lloyd “Carl” Olson and his wife, Penny, and Gary E. Olson Sr., all of Caribou; two daughters, Elaine M. Donovan and her husband, David, of Caswell, and Linda L. Norsworthy and her husband, David, of Woodland; a sister, Dorothy Morgan of Caribou; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Sheppard C. Olson, in 1971; a brother, Everett “Jim” Page; and a sister, Eva Campbell. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with the Revs. Charlie Campbell and John Kiehn co-officiating. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
