BANGOR – Robert F. Sargent, 87, husband of the late Corinne F. (Sweeney) Sargent, died Nov. 12, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Bangor, the son of Daniel B. and Agnes (Traynor) Sargent. Robert was a graduate of John Bapst High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific. He worked as an accountant with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 40 years of service. He and Corinne were communicants of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, and ran Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen. Robert was also an avid golfer. Surviving are three children, Julie Logan and her husband, John F., Nan Woolley and her husband, T. Russell, and Christopher T. Sargent, all of Bangor; four grandchildren, Kathryn Yerxa and her husband, Robert, of Old Town, Andrew Logan and his wife, Claire, of Wilmington, Del., Kyle Robert Woolley of the Dominican Republic, and Erin Mcgrath Woolley and Sam Weaver of South Royalton, Vt.; two great-granddaughters, Zoe Corinne Yerxa and Phoebe Elaine Yerxa; one sister, Mary Giles of Bangor; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Sargent of Bangor and Anna Waddell and her husband, Charles, of Milford, Conn.; and cousins, Earl and Catherine Kingsbury of Bangor. He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, brothers and sisters. He will be remembered by dear friends, Paul and Mickey Graffam. A service honoring Robert’s life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where family and friends may visit 11:30 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity. Condolences may also be offered at www.kileyandfoley.com.
