CALAIS – Herbert “Bruce” Morrison, 87, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at his home. Bruce was born Sept. 14, 1922, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, son of the late Clifford and Jessie (McWaw) Morrison. He graduated from Calais Academy and married Patricia Strout of Milbridge, Dec. 29, 1942. Bruce entered the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and faithfully served his country for 21 years, retiring as a chief master sergeant, last stationed at Loring Air Force Base, Limestone. He was a member of Sherman Bros. Post No. 3 American Legion, Calais. Bruce enjoyed relaxing at his home and watching the river and wildlife. His most cherished memories were those spent with his loving wife and children. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Pat; two sons, Dave Morrison and his wife, Debbie, of Massachusetts and Jim Morrison of Robbinston; three daughters, Bonnie Moffatt and her husband, Morris, of Calais, Sue Brown and her husband, Nelson, of Wells and Christina Gillespie and her husband, Dennis, of Meddybemps; 10 grandchildren, Bob, Josh, Heather, Johnny, Artie, Kathy, Danita, Denise, Janna and Adam; seven great-grandchildren, Jared, Kaylee, Kelsey, Kyle, Kaila, Kianna and Noah; one sister, Helen Brooks of Florida; and the family’s special friend, Prudy Nesbit of Florida. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Calais Cemetery. Donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to St. Croix No. 1 Fire Restoration Committee, P.O. Box 413, Calais, ME 04619.
