SMYRNA and OAKFIELD – Faustina Small, 89, died peacefully Dec. 3, 2009, with her family at her side, in Houlton. She was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Houlton, the daughter of Henry and Mildred (Trafton) Crandall. She and her husband farmed and started Smyrna Plaza Motel and Restaurant – now Brookside – in the 1970s. She is survived by four sons, Dennis and April of Oakfield, Bliss E. “Bill” Jr. of Oakfield, John of Houlton and Robert of Ludlow; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Bob, of Manchester, N.H., and Kathryn and her husband, Keith, of Smyrna; a daughter-in-law, Lois Beaulieu of Island Falls; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Crandall Jr.; and three sisters, Barbara Parmelee, Donna Butterfield and Geraldine Godburn. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bliss; one son, Michael; a grandson, Sean Small; a son-in-law, Rodney Kennedy; a sister, Jean Reynolds; and a brother, Hison and his wife, Mary Crandall. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Oakfield Baptist Church. Interment will be at Lower Smyrna Cemetery.
