BANGOR – Duane “Mac” A. McNeal, 73, died Dec. 9, 2009, at a local hospital after a short illness. He was born June 27, 1936, in Caribou, the son of Edward and Marion (Hallett) McNeal. Mac served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS New Jersey during the Korean War, and was a truck driver for a number of companies for more than 30 years. Mac is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte (Keirstead) McNeal of Bangor; two daughters, Guyla Downing of Orrington and Shanna McNeal of Rhode Island; one son, Russell McNeal and his wife, Cathy, of Vermont; one stepson, Irvin McKay and his wife, Cindy, of Kenduskeag; four brothers, Alfred and Darrell, both of Florida, Samuel of Georgia, and Lynn of Caribou; two sisters, Gloria Tomlinson of Texas and Judy Stedt of Washburn; several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Edward, Hallett, Frank, Ronnie and Roger; and two stepchildren, George McKay and Catherine Partridge.
