HOLDEN – Richard “Dick” Lapointe, 73, passed away Dec. 11, 2009, at Hospice House of Vero Beach, Fla. He was born in Skowhegan, the youngest of 10 children to Lumina Samson Lapointe. Dick joined the Navy, where he met his wife, the former Rachel Picard, at his final duty station in Brunswick. They just this year celebrated their golden anniversary. He later worked for Country Kitchen Bakers which brought them to Brewer in 1968. Afterwards he found his calling and joined the automobile sales business where he spent nearly 25 years with Down East Toyota. They retired in 1998 and spent their winters in Vero Beach, Fla., where he worked at various local golf courses and spent his summers working part time at Bangor Municipal Golf Course for several years. In addition to his wife, Rachel, he is survived by four children, Jeffrey and wife, Michele, of Orrington and their sons, Chris and Josh, Todd and his wife, Megan, of Baltimore, Kelly and his wife, Shannon, of Brewer and their sons, Keegan and Landon, and Tracy and Joe Simpson of Bangor and their daughters, Rebekah and Ashlee; one great-granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth; sisters, Juliette Willette, Dorothy Franklyn, Elaine Cyr, Theresa Cowette and Lauretta George; and brother, Lucien. He was predeceased by his mother; and sisters, Gabrielle, Marie and Pearl. A springtime memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
