CORINTH – Madeline C. Whalen, 84, passed away peacefully Dec. 16, 2009, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born June 26, 1925, in Bangor, daughter of the late Ernest and Emma (Bickford) Corson. She married Arthur Whalen Nov. 4, 1943, and was married more than 50 years until he passed away in 1996. Madeline lived in Corinth all of her life. She worked for W.T. Grant Co. in downtown Bangor; Porter Milford Shoe, Corinth; and was very proud to be a licensed real estate salesperson with Dawson ERA Realty Co., Bangor. Madeline is survived by three daughters whom she loved more than life, Kathy and her husband, Gil Whitney, of Lakeville, Darlene and her husband, Barry Buzzell, of Hudson, and Charlene Whalen and her fiance, Bob Ring, of Corinth; seven grandchildren, Angela and her husband, Guy Rouelle, of East Calais, Vt., Norman Millett Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Corinth, James Millett of Kenduskeag, Thomas Millett of Corinth, David Gilbert Jr. and his wife, Linnette, of Kenduskeag, Michelle and her husband, Corey Cowperthwaite, of Corinth, and Brian Buzzell and his wife, Mandy, of Corinth; nine great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter expected any day now. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles W. Corson Sr. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
