BANGOR – Patricia S. Gideon, 85, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, in the presence of her family. She was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Old Town, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Clyde I. Swett of Island Falls. Pat attended Ricker College, the University of Maine, Orono, and Milliken Memorial Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She was a nurse for many years, co-owner of a restaurant, board game inventor and avid reader. She donated her time to the Bangor Garden Show for many years and also Girl Scouts of America. She was a longtime member of Eastern Star, Loyal Lodge No. 111, Island Falls. Pat is survived by a brother, Anthony B. Swett; five children, Cindy Stockford, Kathie Brattoya, Nancy Comstock, Robert Numrych and Kimberly Wendt; seven grandchildren, Adam, Kelley, Wendy, Aaron, Matthew, Kelsey and Brandon; and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Veronica, Alexander S., Alex Y., Cady, Peyton and Braden. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Donations may be made to Westgate Manor Resident Activities Fund, 750 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401.
