WESTBROOK – Florence V. “Fluff” Winslow, 99, of Liza Harmon Drive, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home, Scarborough, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Masardis, a daughter of Clarence and Lillie Burleigh Rockwell. She moved to Exeter as a young girl and attended schools there before moving to Westbrook. She graduated from Westbrook High School in 1928. During World War II, she worked at South Portland Ship Yard as a welder. She later worked at textile mills in Corinna, Skowhegan and Westbrook, retiring in 1983. After her husband, Bill, passed away she ran a boarding home in Westbrook for many years. Florence stayed busy with her many hobbies – reading, playing the piano, plants and flowers, crossword puzzles, bird feeding and she especially enjoyed parties. In 1998, she learned to use a computer and enjoyed sending e-mails to her family and friends. She also attended South Coast Community Church, Scarborough. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Winslow, in 1985; three stepdaughters, Doris Hunnewell, Phyllis Primevera and Marjorie Lincoln; a brother, Carl Rockwell; and two sisters, Clara Tedford and Elila Henderson. Florence is survived by two sisters, Hazel Robichaud of Newport and Ida Szostak of Westbrook; a stepdaughter, Eunice Stone of Gray; several stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private with interment at Black Point Cemetery, Scarborough. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 180 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements are by Blais & Hay Funeral Home, Westbrook.
