MOUNT DESERT – George Cirard, 91, died Dec. 30, 2009, at Courtland Rehab & Living Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Mount Desert, the son of Peter and Jennie Cirard. George worked for A. P. Allen Lumber Mill and many years at Johnson Garden of Bar Harbor. He loved living the simple life up until the age of 87 when illness forced him to no longer care for himself. He loved his “hotel” stay at Courtland Rehab & Living Center and enjoyed all who cared for him. He is survived by sisters, Alice Richardson of Tennessee, Charlotte Makela of Scarborough and Lillian Warren of Vinalhaven; two special nieces, Pamela Cirard Carlisle and Jeanne Kelly; sister-in-law, Louise Cirard of Little Deer Isle; many other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth and announced in the spring. Contributions in George’s memory may be made to Southwest Harbor Animal Welfare, Inc., P.O.
