CHAPMAN and CARIBOU – Thelma Jane Wardwell, 78, died Jan. 6, 2010, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Caribou, the daughter of Robert D. and Sadie (Tracy) Watson. She was educated in the Caribou school system. Thelma was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She married Lloyd Wardwell Sr., Oct. 4, 1952. Surviving, in addition to her husband of Chapman, are four sons, Kenneth Wardwell, Darin Wardwell and his wife, Kim, all of Alaska, David Wardwell and his wife, Becky, of Ashland and Lloyd Wardwell Jr. of Westfield; four daughters, Juanita Campagna of Madawaska, Darlene Espling and her husband, Sheldon, of Caribou, Peggy Lagasse and her companion, Richard Harvey, of Mapleton and Bonnie Burnett and her husband, Robert, of Chapman; two brothers, Charles Watson of Glenfield, N.Y., and Clifford Watson and his wife, June, of Washburn; two sisters, Winnifred Smith of Ohio and Beatrice Spinney and her companion, Simon Bernier, of Limestone; a son-in-law, Albert Hemingway of Mapleton; and a brother-in-law, Harold Doody of Connecticut; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sylvia Hemingway; two sisters, Marcella Doody and Bertha Levesque; five infant siblings; and two sons-in-law, Phil Campagna and Ronald Lagasse. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Gardner and Rev. Kenneth Fox co-officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
