MILBRIDGE – Lewis “Louie” F. Berry, 84, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility, Milbridge, after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 12, 1925, in New Gloucester, the son of the late Ernest and Arlene (Cushman) Berry. Louie served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Philippines and Europe. He later joined the Merchant Marine. He was a member of Pleiades Lodge, Milbridge; Moose Lodge in Florida, and Anah Temple Shrine Mini-Car Unit and Wheelers Unit. Louie worked at Maine Wild, Wyman’s, Cherryfield Foods and West’s Transportation. He enjoyed his home in Florida, where he loved to play golf. He also enjoyed country music and dancing. Louie was predeceased by a brother, Norman Berry; and a sister, Betty Pukinasis. He is survived by a brother, Jim Berry; and sisters, Evelyn Leighton and Sally Brown. He is also survived by his lifetime companion, Gloria Millett; many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by Betty, Wayne, Julie, Ronnie, Andrew, Nina, Nicole, Chuck, Austin and Amber. He will also be missed by close friends, Emory and Jolyne, and Everett and Barbara. Gloria and family thank the nurses and staff at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility for taking care of Lewis in his final months. Family and friends may call 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with Owen Beal officiating.
