MADAWASKA – Joseph Arthur Roy, 90, passed away Jan. 7, 2010, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Van Buren, the son of Ludger and Rose Fortin. Arthur was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. He was a proud World War II veteran and a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 147, Madawaska. He was extremely committed and was known to be very reliable to his post. He also worked at Fraser Paper for 35 years, until his retirement in 1982. Arthur was very dedicated to his beloved wife of 46 years, until her passing in 2005. He is survived by one brother, Robert Roy of Westbrook; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Reine Laforge, April 2005; five sisters, Gisele, Pauline, Corinne, Constance and Laurette; and three brothers, Phillip, Normand and Leo. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home. Spring interment will be held at the parish cemetery.
