VAN BUREN and BELGRADE – Fernand J. Sirois, 82, died Jan. 17, 2010, at his daughter’s residence in Belgrade after a long illness. He was born June 5, 1927, in Lille, the son of Eddie and Josephine (Lagasse) Sirois. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 49 of Van Buren. Mr. Sirois was employed as water filtration plant supervisor at the former Loring Air Force Base for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, puzzles and painting among his many hobbies. He is survived by one son, Rudy Sirois and his wife, Sharon, of Rumford; four daughters, Evelyn Shoen and husband, Tom, of Norwood, N.Y., Carol Carbonneau and husband, Marc, of Lewiston, Nora Andersen and husband, Larry, of Prattville, Ala., Mona Gagnon and husband, Howard, of Belgrade; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Sirois of Madawaska; and two sisters, Gertrude Turek of Connecticut and Priscilla Fournier of Lewiston. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Gagnon) Sirois, in 2005; by a son, Raymond Sirois, in 2005; and by three brothers, Ralph, Gilman, and Adrian. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
