ABBOT – James Russell Ward, 60, died Jan. 15, 2010, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born Feb. 14, 1949, in Maywood, Calif., the son of Cecil and Marguerite (Van Buskirk) Ward. Jim was an active person who loved life, people, and the weather. Jim moved to Abbot in 1996 and resided at Kingsbury Home. Jim attended Charlotte White Center day program and made many friends along the way. Jim worked for many years at Guilford Post Office and for Charlotte White Center. Jim spent most of his free time caring for his birds and chickens. He received many medals from his participation in the Special Olympics. Jim is survived by his mother of Athens; two brothers, Thomas and Donald; three aunts, Julia Warman and Betty Ward of Greenville Junction, and Winnie McCormick of Fairfield; and several cousins, including a special cousin, Geneva Beckwith and her husband, Norman, of Shirley. He will be extremely missed by his housemates, David, Reggie and Eddie; and all his caring staff. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. A reception will be at Guilford United Methodist Church Parish Hall. Spring burial will be at Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingsbury Home, P.O.
