ELLSWORTH – Leslie Deane Johnston, 65, died unexpectedly Jan. 19, 2010, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 4, 1944, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Leslie H. and Fredonna (Matthews) Johnston. Leslie worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital before joining her sister, Jackie, to work the front office at Town and Country Realtor’s. She was an amazing woman with quick wit and an ability to endure life’s challenges with courage, strength and grace. Leslie could often be found putting a puzzle together with her beloved canine, Treasure, on her lap. She was incredibly supportive and giving to those she loved and cared about. She is survived by her father, Leslie “Heber” Johnston; nephews, Troy Bridges and wife, Michelle and their daughters, Kaity and Raylene, and Rob Jancewicz Jr.; niece, Jennifer Ratti and her husband, Chris and their children, Kyle and Alyssa; cousins, Jane Piper and Bonnie Wescott; and three very close friends, Janet Bosworth, Bernie Fogg and Jarrod Rowe. She was predeceased by her mother; aunts, Norma Partridge and Georgia Donnell; uncle, Arthur Matthews; and sisters, Linda McGinnis and Jackie Fogg. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
