CLIFTON, Texas – Nancy Sanborn Dean died Jan. 23, 2010, at her ranch in Texas. She was born Dec. 25, 1934, in Bangor, to Winifred (Gilmore) and Cyrus Harry Sanborn. She graduated John Bapst, Class of 1953. She moved to Texas and visited Maine most summers. She had a dynamic personality and an independent nature, managing a ranch with cattle and all the chores related to it, even birthing cows and running farm machinery. She enjoyed many hobbies, loved fishing at Branch Lake and entertaining with funny tales. She loved animals, especially her dog, Beau. Her indomitable spirit will be missed. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard; her parents; and brother, Harry “Sonny” Sanborn. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Rister; granddaughters, Alicia Rister of Fort Hood, Texas, and Jennifer McWilliams of Fairfield, Texas; great-grandchildren, Lilyanne Salinas and DeQuann McWilliams; and sisters, Jane and George Ice of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Rosemary and Don Robbins of Tustin, Calif. Services in Clifton, Texas, were private.
