BANGOR – Rita May (Sullivan) Francoeur, R.N., 90, a resident of Cherry Lane, went home to be with her Lord Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, in Bangor. Rita was born April 23, 1919, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of Christopher and Anna May (Crouch) Sullivan Sr. She graduated from Hillhouse High School, New Haven, Conn., Class of 1938. She pursued an education in healthcare at St. Raphael Hospital School of Nursing Program, where she graduated in 1941. She worked for more than 50 years as a registered nurse, serving in many venues of healthcare. She was employed as a private duty nurse and a staff nurse at St. Raphael’s Hospital. She was a supervisor of occupational health at ACME Wire and Safety Care for many years and worked for Miles Health Care Pharmaceuticals, now Bayer, where she retired after 21 years of dedicated service. Rita volunteered for the American Red Cross as a first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation instructor, and was a member of Glad Tidings Church, St Raphael’s Alumni and Bayer Retirees. Rita is survived by her three children, Patricia Sagar and her husband, John, of Sarasota, Fla., Lester H. Francoeur and his wife, Lucille, of Bangor and Joy Hass and her husband, Robert, of Farmington, Conn.; five grandchildren, Heather Sagar, Colette Sagar, Lester H. Francoeur III, Michelle Francoeur and Robert Hass; and one great-grandchild, Michael Moody Jr. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Lester H. Francoeur Sr.; and four brothers, Christopher, Joseph, Daniel and James Sullivan. The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, Bangor, where a service will begin 4 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Morris officiating.
