PASSADUMKEAG – Beatrice J. Bernard, 77, wife of Edward Bernard, passed away peacefully Jan. 30, 2010, with her family around her at her home. She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Greenbush, daughter of Aldamon and Sarah (Page) Betters. Beatrice was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Ladies of St. Anne. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband, Edward, she is survived by three daughters and a son, Vanessa A. Lancaster and Dana of Lincoln, Reginald “Gus” Bernard of West Enfield, Kimberly Toye and John of Gorham and Sarah Curry and Scott of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Matthew Lancaster, Edward Bernard III, David Toye, Erica Bernard, Benjamin Toye, Zachary Curry, Michael Curry and Whitney Bernard; three brothers, Ernest Betters and William Betters, both of Olamon, and Gary Betters of Greenbush; a sister, Faye Betters of Howland; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several siblings. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Howland, with the Rev. Leroy Landry presiding.
