HAMPDEN – Wendy H. Ashey, 50, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. She was born Aug. 31, 1959, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Linwood Sr. and Shirley (Ferris) Hanson. Wendy graduated from Bucksport High School in 1977 and attended New England Deaconess School of Nursing. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Maine. Wendy extremely cared about other people, which led her into her work as a social worker. She enjoyed cooking and was especially good at it. Wendy loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, camping, hiking, kayaking and outdoor barbecues. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Chausey Ashey of Hampden; her mother, Shirley Hanson of Orland; two brothers, Linwood Hanson Jr. and his wife, Candace, and Winston Hanson, all of Orland; one uncle, William Ferris and his wife, Margaret, of Bucksport; nieces and nephews, Ashley Hanson, Graham Hanson and Katelynn Hanson. Wendy was predeceased by her father, Linwood Hanson Sr.; maternal grandparents, Florence Hodgins and Winston Ferris; and paternal grandparents, Edgar and Uneeta Hanson. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. After the service continued celebration of Wendy’s life, with a reception, will be held at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Bucksport.
