BANGOR – Gregory Alan Oakes, 52, son of Linwood Oakes Sr. of Monmouth and Annette (Morin) Parady of Old Town, passed away Feb. 28, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born July 3, 1957, in Bangor. Greg was a 1975 graduate of Bangor High School. He was an avid bowler, and loved playing golf and chess. Prior to his accident in 1980, Greg was employed at Check Mate Restaurant, Bangor, as one of the head cooks. Greg will be sadly missed by his dad, Linwood Oakes Sr. and his wife, Marilyn; his mom, Annette Parady and her husband, Ron; sister, Belinda Esancy and her fiance, John Fairbanks; five stepbrothers, David, Linwood and Kenneth Oakes, Michael and Kevin Parady; the staff and others who have cared and attended to Greg professionally and lovingly for a number of years; a special friend, Cheryl Nelson; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Spring interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after the service all are invited to Holy Family Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
