THORNDIKE – Neil P. Higgins, 89, passed away March 2, 2010, at his residence. Neil was born Feb. 8, 1921, in Thorndike, the son of Maurice and Nola Higgins. He is survived by his wife, Donna of Thorndike; a daughter from his first marriage, Nancy Munson and grandson, Shawn, of East Corinth; stepdaughters, Terri West and fiance, Fred Peabody, and Heidi Merithew; grandchildren, Lori, D.J., Roxanne, Melissa, Jimmy and Kendra; and great-grandchild, Ian. He has three sisters, Barbara Hayes and husband, Ernie, of Tewksbury, Mass., Beverley Ingraham and husband, John, of Knox, and Betty Scarpati of West Haven, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Higgins of Wallingford, Conn.; several nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by his wife, Janetta Smith Higgins; a son, Sonny; as well as two brothers, Clyde and Lewis Higgins. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. April 10 at Unity Elementary School.
