CHESTER – Fern C. Tilton, 91, passed away March 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at Colonial Health Care, Lincoln. She was born July 25, 1918, in Chester, the daughter of Arthur and Bernice (Nichols) Ireland. Fern was a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of the grange, State Grange. She was a member of TOPS ME No. 203, Lincoln, where she became a KOPS and was chapter queen. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Nadia and Roland Drinkwater Sr.; three grandsons and their wives, Roland Jr. and Peggy, Eric and Melissa, Scott and Adria; eight great-grandchildren, Harley, Brittney, Hannah, Courtney, Eric Jr., Alexis, Roland “R.J.” and Logan; stepchildren, Thiry and her husband, Bud Atwood, Willard and his wife, Nancy Tilton, and Bruce Tilton; stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Colleen Ireland; a sister-in-law, Laura Shedd; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Irvin Tilton; her second husband, Hazen Tilton; and her her parents, Arthur and Bernice Ireland. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held noon Wednesday with the Rev. Mitch Bickford officiating. Spring interment will be at Lincoln Center Cemetery. There will be a gathering after the services at the home of Nadia and Roland in Chester.
